My Illustration Process - And The Role Of Experimentation
As a STEM professional, my college journey began with a bright-eyed enthusiasm for Chemical Engineering. During my studies, I delved into the world of science and engineering, embracing the scientific method of experimentation. It taught me the importance of forming hypotheses, those educated guesses about what would happen when Chemical A met Chemical B.
Sometimes, my hypotheses turned out to be correct, and other times, they were proven wrong. But regardless of the outcome, success wasn't solely defined by being right or wrong. True success lay in meticulously documenting the controlled experiments and having the courage to re-run them when the results didn't align with our expectations.
As a scientist and engineer, this mindset often spills over into my artistic endeavors, particularly when I start an illustration. As I refine an illustration further, I am part scientist, part sculptor. I sculpti away at what I see until the illustration that brings joy to my heart emerges.
